DANISH GIRLS' CHOIR PLAYS SECHELT – The Coast Reporter – July 4, 2008

The award-winning Klarup Girls' Choir from northern Denmark will perform in Sechelt on Sunday, July 6.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at St. Hilda's Anglican Church, with the Coast Recital Society co-sponsoring the event.

The concert follows the 13th International Choral Kathaumixw, which runs July 1 to 5 in Powell River.

Since its inception in 1980, the Klarup Girls' Choir has grown to become one of the finest female choirs in Denmark.

They are choral ambassadors for the city of Aalborg and the North Jutland region at official functions and perform frequently with the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, the Danish Radio Light Orchestra and on radio and television broadcasts.

The choir is renowned for its large and varied repertoire of secular songs and church music. They have won the youth category for female choirs 10 times in the Danish national choir competition.

Through numerous concert appearances both at home and abroad, the Klarup Girls' Choir, with conductor Jan Ole Mortensen, has made a considerable name for itself.
