AMICI ENSEMBLE REPLACES OSIRIS TRIO – The Coast Reporter – March 5, 2010

The acclaimed AMICI Chamber Ensemble performs in the next Coast Recital Society concert, this Sunday afternoon, March 7th, at the Raven's Cry Theatre in Sechelt.

The Toronto-based ensemble replaces the originally scheduled OSIRIS TRIO from Amsterdam who, regrettably, are unable to come to North America for their long-planned concert tour.

The exceptional AMICI musicians in this CRS concert are Joaquin Valdepeñas, clarinet, Serouj Kradjian, piano, and Moshe Hammer, violin. Valdepeñas, one of the leading clarinetists in the world, is now in his 30th season as Principal Clarinet of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Kradjian is a virtuoso soloist and chamber musician, known for his performances of a broad range of repertoire. Hammer is admired for his unique interpretations and vibrant tone, and has performed around the world as soloist, chamber musician and recitalist.

Established in 1985, AMICI performs an annual series of concerts at the Glenn Gould Studio of Toronto’s Canadian Broadcasting Centre. The hallmark of AMICI is the inclusion of friends to perform with the ensemble in order to feature intriguing and often unusual repertoire.

Sunday’s concert begins at 2:30 p.m., with a pre-concert chat at 1:30. For information, call: 604-885-0991.
