DUTCH MEZZO-SOPRANO MAKES COAST DEBUT- The Coast Reporter - December 3, 2010

The superb Dutch mezzo-soprano Christianne Stotijn makes her Coast Recital Society debut tomorrow (Saturday) at 2:30 p.m, at the Raven’s Cry Theatre in Sechelt.

Accompanied at the piano by Joseph Breinl, Stotijn’s program features music by Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Strauss, Brahms, Rachman-inoff and Moussorgsky.

The Delft-born Stotijn and Munich native Breinl work together regularly and have performed in top recital venues and with leading orchestras throughout the world.

Stotijn pursued her vocal studies in Metz, London and Amsterdam, graduating with the highest distinction. She has been a BBC New Generation Artist, and has won many prizes including the 2005/06 ECHO Rising Stars Award, the prestigious Dutch Music Prize and most recently the BBC Music Magazine Vocal Award.

An impassioned performer of lieder, Stotijn has appeared in the world’s premier concert halls, including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall London, Konzerthaus and Musikverein Vienna and Carnegie Hall.
