The Pacific Baroque Orchestra performs “early music for modern ears” playing music of all eras, with style and enthusiasm. PBO regularly joins forces with internationally celebrated Canadian guest artists, providing performance opportunities for Canadian musicians while exposing West Coast audiences to a spectacular variety of talent. For this concert artistic director Alexander Weimann has created a fascinating arrangement of the “Goldberg Variations” by J.S. Bach. Originally written for the keyboard, in this version for baroque orchestra, each of the Variations is re-imagined for small groups of players, resulting in a magical excursion into musical territory that is both familiar and strikingly new.
