The Coast Recital Society is a non-profit society dedicated to the presentation of the finest recitals and chamber music for Sunshine Coast audiences.
For over 40 years, the Coast Recital Society has brought some of the most renowned artists of the international classical music world to the Sunshine Coast. This small but mighty organization is recognized as one of the finest BC concert presenters outside the lower mainland. Initiated in 1984 as a regular concert series called Countryside Concerts under the auspices of the Sunshine Coast Arts council by CRS founder Allan Crane, the concert series underwent a name change and became it’s own registered charity in 1994.
The Coast Recital Society is currently led by Artistic Director Denise Ball.
Concerts take place at the 270-seat Raven’s Cry Theatre in Sechelt, on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast – a forty-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay, near Vancouver, to Langdale (via BC Ferries).
We have the great good fortune of owning a wonderful vintage Steinway 9-foot grand piano, an invaluable community resource made available to other organizations for concerts. In addition to our regular season concerts, the CRS engages in a wide range of community outreach programs, including performances at eldercare homes, masterclasses, concerts in schools and a scholarship program.
